Night of cinema and architecture

This ‘Night of cinema and architecture’ at La Filmoteca will begin with the screening of the well-known film by Jacques Tati: ‘Mon Oncle’ (1958). A film that brings viewers closer to a city and architecture with contrasts – from the ultra-modern to the contemporary – and which recreates a multitude of architectural details.

An imaginary that will serve as the basis for the subsequent round table, in which this dichotomy can be transferred to the present day and debate on the usefulness or uselessness of ‘the modern’ in the world of architecture: are we still designing the future or is the future today and what should prevail is practicality? The participants will be: Carlos Salazar, architect and member of the CTAV, Sara Mansanet, Technician of the Film Classroom of the University of Valencia and head of the International Medium-length Film Festival La Cabina, and Vicent Molins, moderator.

An evening for professionals and lovers of these two disciplines that is sure to invite you to take a fresh look at Villa Arpel or any of the current constructions that will be analysed in this framework of debate.
